Emberward Roadmap and Update History

The developer laid out the post-1.0 plan in the launch announcement itself: fix launch-week bugs, take a short rest, then resume updates with new towers, relics and maps while starting console ports in parallel. A level editor is the stretch goal, conditional on the game keeping an active player base. This page tracks the plan and the full update history.

"Will the game keep getting updates after 1.0?" is the first question the developer answered in the launch post, in bold, before listing anything else: yes. The plan below is quoted from that September 17, 2026 announcement, not assembled from interviews or speculation.

The official post-1.0 plan

In order, as the developer wrote it:

  1. Launch-week bug fixing. The first days after 1.0 go to whatever players dig up. (The store page already carries post-update fixes, such as a hotkey conflict between two settings.)
  2. A short rest. After months of 14 to 16 hour days, roughly a week off. The plan says so plainly.
  3. Back to the update rhythm: new towers, relics and maps, on a cadence not yet decided between frequent small patches and larger drops. Localization now slows every change, since 13 languages each need the translators' pass.
  4. Console ports, in parallel. Development time splits about fifty-fifty between new content and ports until the console versions are done. Which consoles and when: not announced.
  5. Then, conditionally: a level editor. If the game holds a healthy player base, the developer wants to build one (an estimated three to four months of work). If activity fades, the same update schedule continues instead. If players leave quickly, the next game enters consideration.

For what the consoles question means today, see platforms. For the mode and region content that updates would build on, see modes and regions.

Update history: v0.4.7 to 1.0

Early Access ran on numbered game updates, each announced on Steam. The recent record:

Older history (v0.3.x, v0.4.0's Sealed Citadel expansion in 2024) sits further back in the same news feed. One honest gap: hotfixes after launch have not always carried public patch notes, and players have asked for them; that is a documentation habit, not a content freeze.

What is explicitly not planned

Three things the community keeps asking about, with official answers:

FAQ

Will Emberward get more updates after 1.0?

Yes. The developer committed to continued updates in the 1.0 launch announcement, splitting time between new content (towers, relics, maps) and console ports.

When do the console versions come out?

No date and no console list yet. The official plan says ports start after launch with roughly half the developer's time; anything more specific would be invention.

Is a level editor coming?

Conditionally. The developer wants to build one if the player base stays active enough to justify an estimated three to four months of work.

Is a mobile version on the roadmap?

No. The plan after 1.0 covers updates and console ports; mobile has had no official update since a noncommittal 2024 FAQ answer.
