Emberward Release Date: From Demo to 1.0

Emberward's 1.0 full release landed on September 17, 2026, announced by the developer and confirmed in the official press kit. Emberward is out now: the 1.0 full release went live on September 17, 2026, the date the developer announced on September 2 and repeated in the launch-day post. The game is no longer upcoming, so this page is a record rather than a countdown: how a January 2023 prototype became a demo, a two-year Early Access run, and one of 2026's best-reviewed tower defense launches.

Why the store page says September 18

Look up Emberward on Steam today and the release date field reads "18 Sep, 2026", one day later than everything the developer published. This is a timezone display artifact: the launch post went out September 17 UTC, and the store field resolved to the next day in some regions. The official date is September 17, 2026 (launch announcement, press kit, and the September 2 date-setting post all agree). We note the store value here so you can recognize it, not adopt it.

Four years of one developer

Emberward is a solo project. RefiCHL, a developer based in Taiwan working as Refic Games, started it in January 2023 expecting "a year at most", and shipped 1.0 after almost four years, closing the launch post with a note that the last three to four months ran 14 to 16 working hours every day. The music is by Alexander Nakarada; everything else is one person. That shape explains a lot of the game's cadence: steady numbered updates, long quiet stretches before big ones, and a 1.0 that added a whole region instead of a victory lap. The review page collects what players think of the result; the roadmap page covers what comes next.

What Early Access built along the way

The June 2024 Early Access launch carried 2 regions, 25 towers, 42 relics and 4 characters (a 2024 press review counted). The 1.0 that arrived September 2026 has 5 regions, a community-counted 55 towers and 10 characters, exactly 100 achievements, and 13 languages. The towers and characters pages keep the current counts with their proper labels; the point here is the shape: this was an Early Access run that visibly delivered, which is exactly what the Steam reviews reward it for.

FAQ

When did Emberward release?

Emberward's full 1.0 release is September 17, 2026 on Steam for Windows. The game had been playable since the November 13, 2023 demo and the June 25, 2024 Early Access launch.

Is Emberward still in Early Access?

No. Early Access ran from June 25, 2024 to the 1.0 launch on September 17, 2026. The demo remains available as a separate free page; see demo.

Why does Steam say September 18?

The store's release date field displays September 18, 2026 due to timezone resolution, while the developer's announcements and press kit all say September 17. We treat September 17 as the official date.

Is the game finished now?

Yes, 1.0 is the full release. The developer has committed to continued updates and console ports after launch; details are tracked on the roadmap.
